Overcoming Challenges and Delivering Excellence: Building a WooCommerce Plugin for Bold Commerce

When I took over as project manager for Bold Commerce at Crowd Favorite, we were in the midst of phase 2 of a three-phase project. The goal was to build a WooCommerce plugin that would integrate Bold Commerce’s payment services into a new consumer line. Phase 1 had verified the feasibility of the plugin, and I joined just as we were beginning the system build-out. We completed phase 2 in January 2022, delivering a working product. Phase 3 started in February, focusing on refining the application through beta testing with key accounts. This phase concluded successfully in July 2022. Managing two full-time developers and rotating support from a designer, front-end developer, and senior full-stack developer, I ensured seamless collaboration with the client’s team, which included a lead manager, marketing manager, and operations manager.

One of the primary challenges was ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards while interfacing with the client’s proprietary system. Additionally, frequent staffing changes on the client’s side required me to invest extra effort in onboarding new members to keep the project on track. Throughout the project, we utilized SCRUM methodology and sprints to manage the evolving requirements effectively. Weekly meetings with both teams, combined with monthly leadership discussions for risk mitigation and resource management, were pivotal. Despite these challenges, we delivered the plugin on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. The positive feedback and successful project completion reinforced the value of structured processes and clear communication.
